Privacy Statement

Gum Leaf Counselling (GLC) respects the privacy of the client. GLC advises the information you provide on this form and that is collected in the counsellor’s notes is “personal information” as defined by the Privacy Act 1988 (“the Act”). The information is being collected for the purpose of registering you for counselling services. The intended recipient of the information is GLC. All personal information gathered by the counsellor during the provision of the counselling service will remain confidential and secure except when:

  1. It is subpoenaed by a court, or

  2. Failure to disclose information would place you or another person at risk, or

  3. Your prior approval has been obtained to:

    1. provide a written report to another professional or agency. eg. a GP or  a lawyer; or

    2. discuss the material with another person, eg. a parent or employer; or if the disclosure is otherwise required or authorised by law

  4. The counsellor is undertaking Supervision and may discuss your situation with a qualified supervisor in which your strict confidentiality will still be maintained. (Supervision is fundamentally to protect clients, to improve the ability of counsellors to provide value to their clients and to monitor the self-care of the Counsellor or Health Care Professional.)


The provision of this information is voluntary but if this information is not provided, Gum Leaf Counselling may be unable to provide you with a service. You have the right to access and amend any incorrect personal information in accordance with the Act. The information collected by Gum Leaf Counselling will be held securely by Gum Leaf Counselling.


Payment &
Cancellation Policy

Session fee - one hour (50 min) - $110

Fees are offered on a sliding scale for prepaid packages. Please contact Gum Leaf Counselling for details.


Payment in full is required 24 hours prior to your appointment. Payment by bank transfer, with a copy of the transfer, emailed to for verification. Please note that all payments are final and no refunds are provided for cancellations or no-shows. If payment is not received 24 hours prior to your appointment, this may result in your appointment being cancelled and offered to another client. You will be notified of this cancellation via text.




Gum Leaf Counselling uses email and texts to communicate with clients. This may include, but is not limited to, appointment reminders, invoices and receipts and extra information arising from the session. On intake, please indicate your preferred method of communication.  If you were referred to us by another professional, we may keep them updated on your progress. This will be explained to you during your first session. Please let us know if you do not consent to this. 

Social Media

Gum Leaf Counselling is active on social media.  Please be mindful that if you like, comment or share any of our social media posts, you may be breaching your own confidentiality. Please interact with our social media at your own discretion. 

Termination of Services

Gum Leaf Counselling reserves the right to terminate your service at any time. This may be to refer you to a more specialised service if appropriate. We may also terminate your services if you become aggressive or abusive towards any of our staff. You will be notified via email of your termination from service. 

Medicare and Private Health

Please note that NO Medicare, private health rebates or Work Cover claims are available for our services.  


Crisis Support

Gum Leaf Counselling is not a crisis service and may not be able to offer you support outside of your scheduled appointment time. If you are in a crisis, please contact:
